After four years of living in our house without a front walkway, we figured we should get moving on it since we have a little daughter who's learning to walk. The overall length of the walkway is 64 feet and will be made of pavers in an "I" pattern. Along the inside of the wall will be a 12" retaining wall.
Step 1: Acquire tractor
Step 2: Mark lines for walkway

Step 3: Start digging

Rough dig-out before grading

Looking forward to getting a lot of work done on the 4th of July, I broke a hydraulic fitting on the backhoe and was unable to do anything else that day. So, off to the 4th of July fair in North Coventry so Kym and I could win some stuff for Katelyn!
Step 4: Replace hydraulic fitting and do some more digging. In this shot, I'm working on making things a little more level and trying to eliminate creating frog ponds after rain.
Step 5: Find another place on the property, dig a hole, add some water, and relocate frogs.
Kym catching frogs.
Step 6: Remember that the retaining wall that will go in splits off from the walkway and dig out for that.
Digging is finished and the dirt is graded fairly well, so it's time to lay stone.
Step 7: We decided we wanted to replace our one single step off our porch to two steps, so we measured the depth from the porch for the first layer of stone and started laying it down.

Step 8: We decided that we wanted to run an underground waterline that needed to run under the walkway, so we dug out for that. Unfortunately, I hit an underground drainage pipe and cracked it. So, that took a bit of time away from this project to repair.
Damn it
Fixed - lots of MANUAL digging!
Step 9: Laid some PVC down in the ditch. We're running two pipes down for future electric needs or anything else that may come up.
I laid pipe.
